Position Overview
CB&A Project Management is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer to support a confidential, large-scale energy infrastructure facility. This role is responsible for ensuring long-term mechanical equipment reliability and sustained system performance. The Mechanical Systems Engineer integrates reliability and asset management strategies into daily operations, proactively identifying and resolving equipment issues before failure occurs.
This position requires close collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to optimize asset health, reduce operational risk, and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
System Performance & Asset Health
- Perform routine trending and analysis of system parameters to identify early indicators of equipment degradation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and scheduling teams to ensure reliability-related work is executed with proper timing and quality.
- Conduct regular system walkdowns to identify emerging equipment issues and degradation trends.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Review and enhance existing maintenance strategies to align with industry best practices and lessons learned.
- Support implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve system reliability and availability.
Corrective Action & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or support root cause evaluations for equipment failures and develop corrective action plans.
- Drive long-term planning initiatives focused on lifecycle management of critical mechanical assets.
Fleet Governance & Standardization
- Participate in industry benchmarking and best-practice sharing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including Maintenance Rule (10 CFR 50.65), and internal quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.

Desired Qualifications
Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience using work management systems such as Maximo or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with mechanical maintenance practices, particularly related to pumps and/or valves.
- Working knowledge of causal analysis methodologies, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Exposure to predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring tools.
- Ability to make sound engineering decisions using experience, data, and accepted industry practices, particularly in environments where safety and reliability are critical.
