Computer Aided Design Drafter

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Drafter II with 3 years of experience in CAD drafting to support our surveying and land development projects. This position plays a key role in producing boundary surveys, transmission line right-of-way drawings, and land tie surveys. The ideal candidate will have experience writing metes and bounds or centerline descriptions and supporting both field and office survey operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed CAD drawings for boundary, transmission line right-of-way, and land tie surveys.
• Draft accurate “metes and bounds” or “centerline” legal descriptions as assigned.
• Support survey field crews and office staff with drafting needs and project coordination.
• Conduct research on existing survey records, deeds, plats, and real estate documents.
• Contact local and state agencies to gather right-of-way and property information.
• Prepare and transmit completed drawings and documentation in accordance with project requirements.
• Maintain organized and updated drafting files and project records.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD drafting, preferably in land surveying or civil engineering.
• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and other drafting software.
• Strong knowledge of survey principles and legal description writing.
• Ability to read and interpret survey field notes, legal documents, and engineering plans.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with transmission line or utility right-of-way projects.
• Familiarity with state and local land use and right-of-way regulations.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project deadlines
