Role Summary
The Dietitian performs comprehensive nutritional assessments and collaborates with the interdisciplinary medical team to prescribe, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Serve as a department representative as part of the hospital clinical care team
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety and sanitation regulations
- Develop and implement menus that align with clinical and nutritional standards
- Educate patients on prescribed diets and nutritional supplements related to diagnoses
- Provide recommendations for enteral and parenteral nutrition support
- Assess patients for malnutrition and develop appropriate nutrition interventions and care plans
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in food service management software
- Provide inpatient nutritional counseling
- Demonstrate flexibility by assuming additional appropriate responsibilities as needed
Required Skills and Experience
- Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master's degree
- One (1) year of experience in an acute care setting
Preferred skills are not required to be considered for this role.
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including production areas and walk-in coolers/freezers
Location, Travel and Shift Requirements
- Onsite- Rotating to cover both locations as needed:
- Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850
- Schuyler Hospital: 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls, NY 14865
- Shift: Flex schedule, days, evenings and possible weekends.
- 50% Travel expected for this role between locations noted above as needed
Pay Range Disclosure
Standard rate of $33.66 - $43.24 per hour
