About the Program and Position:
Cayuga Centers is looking for an individual who is passionate about strengths-based, youth-and family-centered care within the Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) program. Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) services are designed to restore, rehabilitate, and support a child’s/youth’s developmentally appropriate functioning as necessary for the integration of the child/youth as an active and productive member of their family and community with the goal of achieving minimal on-going professional intervention. This program provides ample opportunities to expand your application of evidence-based practice while supporting program growth within the agency and community.
Cayuga Centers is seeking a Youth Skills Coach to provide support and mentoring to
children and adolescents in our CFTSS program. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of CFTSS, your responsibilities will include meeting with youth one or more times a week to work on skill development, help them succeed at school, and navigate life challenges. The Youth Skills Coach is crucial in making a difference by providing guidance, support, and resources to empower young individuals to achieve their personal goals.

How you get to use your skills…
- Demonstrate your areas of creativity and engagement by implementing a variety of activities which include evidence-based interventions and solution-focused work
- Become a primary support in helping children/youth develop preventative and responsive skills to cope
- Work within the CFTSS team collaborating and developing treatment plans to suit the needs of the child. These skills may include behavior management skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, and time management skills. Conduct role-playing, teaching, debriefing, or other strategies
- Demonstrate an inclusive practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture
Schedule: Looking for an applicant who is willing to work with the youth/families at a time that suits the youth and family needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position that includes evening and weekend hours.
Experience and Skills:
- Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in mental health, addiction, and/or foster care work strongly preferred
- High school diploma with a minimum 2 years of experience in mental health, addiction and/or foster care and demonstrated case planning ability minimally required
- Ability to form a mutually respectful and balanced relationship with the youth
- Ability and willingness to engage and work with families in an "in-home" context
- Knowledge of Child Welfare and Foster Care Systems
- Ability to apply youth and family strengths to inform treatment planning
- Flexibility to work when the families are available to meet, including evenings, weekends,holidays
- Ability to carry out interventions creatively to support client’s goal achievement
- Ability to function independently and willing and able to seek guidance as necessary
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- Vehicle required: Must be safe and dependable as program youth are transported
- Ability and willingness to drive to client’s homes, within reasonable distance from the office, which may include neighboring counties
- Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills
- A strong belief in the ability of people to grow and change
- Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity, and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle with passengers for at least four consecutive hours
- Ability to participate in physical activities with program youth, including running, jumping, bending, and twisting
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- Ability to walk up and down stairs repeatedly
