Job Description: i2L Research USA is a contract research organization with a rich history of entomological science testing. Based in Baltimore Maryland, we partner with industry leaders to develop professional and consumer pesticidal products. Our work is instrumental in helping these clients achieve their research and development goals. Overview: We are looking for an experienced Entomologist to work at our Baltimore, Maryland location. The successful candidate will work both independently and under the supervision of a Principal Investigator on projects related to product optimization, claims development and product efficacy. They will work to deliver time sensitive data packages in support of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state regulatory submissions. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will help build and maintain relationships with outside collaborators and work well in a fast-paced small business environment. Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Partnering with outside collaborators to see projects through single or multiple phases of a research and development cycle. Designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments to answer specific research questions. Development and implementation of bioassays to detect the effects of active ingredients on insect and crop pests in the lab and in the field. Supporting insectary activities and maintaining various insect cultures Data collection, collation, analysis and generation of reports using various software tools Required Education: The preferred candidate will hold a degree in Entomology with 2-4 years of practical experience but all experience levels are invited to apply. Qualifications: Basic laboratory skills, including but not limited to analytical weighing, sample preparation and dilution, treatment application, insect culture maintenance, and test evaluations Demonstrated ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with and interest in conducting field trials, controlled environment chamber tests, and laboratory bioassays Strong critical thinking capabilities Excellent written and oral communication skills Good computer skills Demonstrated ability to work in a small team environment to achieve group objectives; ability to share technical knowledge with others and promote the development of the team Cawood is the UK’s leading scientific group, recognised for its technical capability and value-added service to customers. Russell Vaughan Russell joined Cawood shortly after leaving university in our Mambo-Tox laboratory and has worked on the majority of our studies, from basic lab experiments to full-sized field studies. He has been integral to new method development over his many years with the company, and is a key contributor to our reputation for clear, accurate reporting that can go straight into a dossier. After taking time out to complete his PhD in plant molecular biology, he returned to the business in 2005 and now leads our team of study directors at Mambo-Tox. Sean Stevenson Sean joined Cawood as a biochemistry graduate to work in the NRM soil analysis laboratory. Over the last 19 years he has worked his way up through sales and business development roles and is now Divisional Managing Director for Cawood Agriculture. Sean is responsible for creating commercial strategies which support and accelerate our growth. Having worked at all the different levels in the company, Sean is a firm believer in making the business a place where people can thrive. At the heart of Cawood is NRM, the UK’s leading agricultural laboratory, founded in 1990. The Cawood group was formed in 2006 with the acquisition of the animal feed testing business, Sciantec. Since then, we have grown rapidly through our strong relationships with customers, our ongoing investment in people and equipment, and the acquisition of businesses that complement or expand our services. This development has allowed us to increase our range of services and extend our reach into global markets. In 2021, Cawood was acquired by US corporation Ensign-Bickford Industries (EBI), becoming a member of its Agriculture and Environmental Diagnostics Group.
