Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Laborer (Refuse Collector / Transfer Station Floater) to join our team. This position plays a key role in supporting both residential trash collection operations and transfer station activities.
This individual will work as part of a residential collection crew on Mondays and Fridays, assisting with refuse collection routes, and will support daily operations at the transfer station Tuesday through Thursday. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Residential Collection (Mondays & Fridays):
- Assist with residential trash collection routes, including loading and unloading waste materials.
- Support the driver and crew to ensure all materials are collected safely and efficiently.
- Ride on the truck and perform repetitive lifting and dumping of waste and recyclables.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of all materials in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
Transfer Station Operations (Tuesday–Thursday):
- Assist with unloading, sorting, and processing recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the transfer station (debris removal, sweeping, general upkeep).
- Help load and unload trucks and containers as needed.
- Operate basic equipment used in waste handling and processing.
General Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and tools; report any issues to a supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal waste management and recycling regulations.
- Provide support across operations as needed to ensure efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a labor, sanitation, or industrial environment is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding, repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
