Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. Role will be part time with the possibility of full time in the future. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for helping others, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, managing medical records, and supporting the sales of eyewear products. Candidate must be reliable, dependable and detail oriented.

Duties

  • Assist optometrist during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring a comfortable environment for patients.
  • Answer and screen phone calls as well as assist in appointment scheduling
  • Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
  • Submit orders for contact lenses and glasses as well as verifies orders when they arrive.
  • Support retail sales by recommending appropriate eyewear based on patient needs and preferences.
  • Handle medical billing processes and verify insurance information for patients.
  • Uphold aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance overall patient experience.

Experience

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or optometric setting is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in retail sales or customer service will be beneficial for engaging with patients effectively.
  • Knowledge of systems related to patient care and office management is a plus.
  • Our office will provide on-site training for the ideal candidate.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 35 per week
