Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our team. Role will be part time with the possibility of full time in the future. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. Your responsibilities will include assisting with patient examinations, managing medical records, and supporting the sales of eyewear products. Candidate must be reliable, dependable and detail oriented.
Duties
- Assist optometrist during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring a comfortable environment for patients.
- Answer and screen phone calls as well as assist in appointment scheduling
- Perform preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
- Submit orders for contact lenses and glasses as well as verifies orders when they arrive.
- Support retail sales by recommending appropriate eyewear based on patient needs and preferences.
- Handle medical billing processes and verify insurance information for patients.
- Uphold aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance overall patient experience.
Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare or optometric setting is preferred but not required.
- Experience in retail sales or customer service will be beneficial for engaging with patients effectively.
- Knowledge of systems related to patient care and office management is a plus.
- Our office will provide on-site training for the ideal candidate.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
