SUMMARY
To coordinate school-wide curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention efforts to meet student needs through implementing research-based teaching strategies and providing job-embedded professional development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assumes duties of regular classroom teacher and serves as the lead teacher for reading and math programs as they relate to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention.
- Provides ongoing job-embedded professional development for all teachers.
- Supports other teachers in the development, implementation, and modeling of lab lessons which reflect best practice in grades K-12.
- Contacts and secures experts in reading and mathematics to provide professional development and to model lessons as needed.
- Communicates policies, procedures, and strategies of district and school initiatives related to student intervention with students, staff, parents, and community as needed.
- Works with school and district leadership to design, implement, and monitor impact of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.
- Seeks training opportunities for teachers and staff related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.
- Provides professional development designed around the essential components of reading and math instruction.
- Collaborates in all classrooms as well as implementing flexible pullout instruction as needed based on student needs.
- Coordinates classroom assessments and compiles data in collaboration with the Curriculum/Instruction/Technology Teacher.
- Operates a multimedia computer and peripherals to install and use a variety of software to impact student learning.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality and a commitment to professional growth.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
- Any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction.
Ability to:
Plan, organize, develop, and conduct intervention plans, comprehensive teaching and instruction programs for pupils in Grades K-12.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
Experience:
Successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university or two years of regular full time classroom teaching experience.
Education:
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree with emphasis in elementary education and a subject matter field commonly taught in education, or closely related field areas.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
Possession of certification as required by Kentucky law.
