What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chairside Ortho/Dental Assistant position at Cavern City Orthodontics?
Overview
Join our fun dental team as either a Chairside Ortho/Dental Assistant OR as a Front office patient coordinator, where you will work closely with our Board Certified Orthodontist and his team to provide awesome smiles in an easy and fun environment.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during orthodontic procedures, including taking dental records, removing wires and placing new wires and retaienrs/trays.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring an aseptic environment in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Take and develop X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records using EMR systems such as Oasys and ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical records efficiently.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to ensure precise communication and documentation within the practice.
Experience
- We prefer and pay more for proven experience working as a dental assistant in a busy clinical setting with familiarity in chairside assisting for orthodontics.
- Hands-on experience with software scheduling preferred for front office.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA standards.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety guidelines; certification in radiography will be needed over time for chairside assistant.
- Knowledge of dental terminology will be taught.
