Cavendish Town Elementary School has an opening for a dynamic, motivated and dedicated professional to work as a Long Term Substitute Kindergarten Teacher. This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday, starting in August 2026 and ending around early October 2026.
The successful candidate will support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth while ensuring continuity of instruction and classroom routines. This role includes collaboration with colleagues, communication with families, and active participation in the school community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with early childhood best practices
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
Support students’ social-emotional development and positive behavior
Follow established curriculum, lesson plans, and classroom routines
Assess student progress and maintain appropriate records
Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
Collaborate with grade-level team members, specialists, and support staff
Participate in student support teams and school-wide activities as needed
Uphold school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations
Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging classroom environment
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualification Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required
Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in early childhood or Kindergarten
Certifications and Licenses:
Qualified candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a valid VT Educator License with an Early Childhood endorsement
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of child development and early learning practices
Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Ability to adapt instruction and respond to student needs
Ability to maintain accurate records and follow procedures

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
