What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Fiber Optic Splicer position at CAVCOMM LLC?
CAVCOMM, LLC is a full-service telecommunications cable installation company specializing in Fiber Optics. With over 30 years of combined experienced in installation, termination, and testing fiber optic, copper and coaxial cables for both ISP and OSP applications.
Responsibilities: Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables. Construct a proper splice case. Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics and diagrams. Perform work in accordance with industry standards. Read and follow design engineers’ instructions and specifications to maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures. Test all splices. Other duties and responsibilities may be required and/or assigned.
Essential Functions
- Accurately read and interpret splicing documents, splicing engineer packets and network plan designs in preparation for each job
- Interface with customer demonstrating the ability to discuss job requirements, foresee potential issues, provide technical advice, and troubleshoot problems
- Plan and lead jobs from beginning to end
- Using a fusion splicing equipment, splice fiber optic cable, single or mass fusion, in a variety of elements, indoor and outdoor
- Follow required inspection processes and fiber testing using Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR)
- Analyze and prepare test results for customer presentation
- Repair fiber optic cable as needed or required to specified company and state standard
- Responsible for complying with all safety standards
- Responsible for upkeep and maintaining company vehicle, inventory and small tools
- Keep current with fiber optic design and splicing processes, tools and techniques
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated work experience
- Expert knowledge using fusion splicing equipment
- Fully proficient in ribbon splicing procedures
- Expert knowledge using Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR)
- Must possess strong problem solving, decision making, analytical skills and organizational skills
- Ability to work from an Aerial lift truck and/or ladder
- Ability to use light source and power meter
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
