What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Cavco Nampa?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for each home or project, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current pricing.
- Create, maintain, and update BOMs for all active projects using a combination of product specifications, engineering drawings, observing building construction, and parts from a parts list; apply revisions for every change order with updated, validated costs.
- Perform routine and special cost analyses to determine the type, quantity, and cost of materials used in construction.
- Utilize and maintain the organization’s cost accounting system to continuously appraise the value of inventory, materials, and work-in-progress.
- Collaborate with sales, production, purchasing, and management teams to ensure cost data aligns with actual usage and construction requirements.
- Analyze cost variances and support corrective actions when discrepancies occur.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting with accurate and timely cost data.
- Participate in month-end closing activities such as the coordination and reconciliation of physical inventory audits and the valuation of work-in-process and finished goods
- Additional tasks may include assisting purchasing, material updates, receipts, inventory reporting, etc.
- Other support duties for Purchasing Manager as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred
- 4 years directly related experience
- Previous accounting experience desired
- Medium level of Excel
- Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
- Organizational skills
- Ability to deal with all levels of management
- Team player
