What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Catzablanca Cat Clinic and Hospital?
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with patient care and treatment
- Fear free based handling during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian, record keeping, and filling prescriptions
- Perform routine laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis
- Prepare cats for surgery, including cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments
- Monitor cats in surgical recovery
- Clean and maintain examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment, stocking all stations
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
- Setting up exam rooms
Experience:
- Previous experience working with cats
- Knowledge of basic feline care and fear free handling techniques
- Phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, laboratory and radiology experience
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and veterinary staff
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
