Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of Performing Arts.

The Catskill Mountain Foundation is seeking a motivated, ambitious, organized, outgoing, and dedicated individual with an interest in the performing arts to join our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Position will work with the Director of Performing Arts to oversee box office, audience outreach, and artist engagement/coordination and perform general administrative tasks which may include some marketing, as required.

Duties include:

  • Run box office for all CMF performance events year-round (in coordination with other staff as support), answer all incoming box office communications, train and supervise box office staff and volunteers
  • Collaborate with marketing to create new avenues for ticket sales and audience development
  • Collaborate with education outreach to develop group sales and other opportunities
  • Monitor, coordinate, and trouble shoot with OTS ticket service, create box office reports
  • Work directly with the Director of Performing Arts on all programming administrative needs relating to core responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate arrivals and departures of artists in residence (in coordination with other staff as support) for the multiple performance areas within CMF. Coordinate with tech team, maintenance, and housekeeping to ensure production set up is orderly and efficient
  • Supervise and schedule piano moves and maintenance, oversee organization of all other performance equipment (other than tech)

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

A 4-year undergraduate degree in arts administration or other art degrees is preferred, but not required. A background working at a performing arts center would be preferred but not required. A background in the performing arts would be helpful but not required. A strong desire to work with performing artists is required.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common articles, contracts, and grant reports.
  • Ability to address common inquiries or problems from artists, audiences, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with the Director of Performing Arts to create information for the Director to present to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to create spreadsheets and charts is required.
  • Experience working with money is required.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred. Experience with live performance ticketing software would be helpful, but can also be learned.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Employee must have a car and be able to drive between venues and artists housing as well as to and from work. Public transportation is not available.

  • A great deal of walking, including up and down ramps and staircases;
  • Tight, restricted areas
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • During performances and other programs, the workplace may be noisy and crowded with audience members and performers.
