Your Role as Lead Veterinary Technician

As a key leader of our cat-exclusive team, you'll:

• Lead the technician team by mentoring clinical assistants and technicians, supporting skill development, and modeling feline-centered patient care.
• Champion the CatsOnly Care Journey, ensuring every patient interaction prioritizes emotional safety, gentle handling, and thoughtful communication with caregivers.
• Support medical excellence by collaborating with veterinarians to implement evidence-based protocols for feline diagnostics, anesthesia, surgery, and patient care.
• Guide hospital workflows, helping maintain efficiency, safety, and consistency in daily operations.
• Support team growth and training, including onboarding new staff and developing technician competency within our structured clinical training tiers.
• Serve as a bridge between clinical and operational leadership, ensuring clear communication and alignment across the Care Team.
• Advocate for the patient, always prioritizing the comfort, safety, and dignity of the cat.

Key Responsibilities – Where Your Skills Shine

Lead Veterinary Technicians provide advanced technical and nursing care including:

• Deliver exceptional hands-on care: anesthesia/sedation, surgical assisting, radiology, dentistry, and in-house lab work (urinalysis, hematology, etc.).
• Handle technical equipment for anesthesia, surgery, imaging, and lab services.
• Maintain flawless records in our intuitive Digitail system.
• Communicate clearly and kindly with caregivers and team members about patient status and procedures.
• Stay current through ongoing training, CE, and certifications, fully supported by us.
• Embody low-stress, fear-free feline handling because you genuinely understand and love their unique emotions and behaviors.
• Follow all safety protocols while bringing your full heart to every interaction.

Qualifications Required

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT / CVT / LVT)
• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program
• Minimum 5 years clinical experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in anesthesia, surgical nursing, along with hands-on and computer enhanced diagnostics
• Proficiency in dentistry and dental radiography
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentorship skills
• Commitment to feline-focused patient care and low-stress handling

• Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS CP-Feline) designation
• VTS CP-Feline applicants will be immediately on a higher compensation tier due to their extensive training and experience.
• Special interest or advanced training in feline medicine
