Responsibilities
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and husbandry to ensure safe and stress-free procedures during after-hours operations and procedures
- Support veterinary staff with animal catheterization, sample collection, and laboratory testing to aid diagnosis and treatment
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields using aseptic techniques for surgeries and procedures performed during overnight and weekend shifts
- Conduct thorough animal assessments, monitor vital signs, and provide critical care for hospitalized pets in need of urgent attention
- Operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines; assist with radiograph positioning and image processing under supervision
- Maintain detailed records of treatments, laboratory results, and patient progress in compliance with clinic protocols
- Complete restocking of supplies when necessary
- Possess the ability to work independently and unsupervised at times
Experience
- Veterinary technician experience or RVT certification highly desirable
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices and emergency response procedures
- Laboratory experience including sample processing and diagnostic testing techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques
- Experience working with a variety of species including dogs and cats is a plus
- Strong animal handling skills with an emphasis on safety and stress reduction during restraint or procedures
