POSITION SUMMARY
The Campus Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and safety of school facilities, ensuring a conducive environment for learning. This specialist will respond to maintenance requests, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with team members to implement effective solutions.
Hourly Wage: $30-$33/hour (depends on experience)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Maintenance
- Performs proactive, continuous monitoring and assessment of campus repair needs, reports observations to Director of Facilities for review and scheduling.
- Performs maintenance tasks including advanced carpentry, painting, plumbing and minor lighting/electrical.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks in support of employees' use, moving, or minor adaptation of classroom and office spaces.
- Performs maintenance projects at the direction of the Director of Facilities.
- Maintains an organized inventory of supplies, fasteners, equipment and parts for all aspects of maintenance of building interiors, exteriors, and furnishings.
- Maintains paint inventory and keeps paint records current.
- Responsible for East Campus nightly lock-up patrols of building at end of shift
- Classified Essential Personnel
Safety
- Assists with monthly fire drills and responds to alarms during the workday.
- Member of the Safety Committee and Responsible for all Monthly Building Inspections
Delivery & Distribution & Warehouse
- Distributes mail, packages, and/or copy paper daily to locations around campus.
- Receives shipments at loading dock and maintains warehouses in an organized, safe, and efficient condition.
- Moves furnishings to and from the warehouse as required.
- Keeps records of inventory at the East Campus Warehouse and maintains Recycling Yard in a clean, orderly state.
- Sets up and takes down events (tables, tents, audio-visual equipment, etc.) and assists with vehicular and pedestrian direction as assigned by the Events Coordinator.
Other Duties
- Follow all safety protocols and work practices.
- Completes required annual training.
- Keeps tools organized, workspaces clean, and aisles clear.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, coordinating with the Director of Facilities to optimize resources and minimize disruptions.
- Updates the Director of Facilities on project status and records daily time/data in the FMX system.
- Research parts, manuals, and solutions, staying informed of relevant products and techniques
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to support Catlin Gabel mission
- Attend departmental and schoolwide employee meetings
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position does not supervise other employees

- This role requires daily interactions with facilities team and contractors, and frequent contact with faculty, staff and students, with occasional contact with parents, trustees, alumni, and visitors

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License and have safe driving record to meet school standards
- Preferred experience using a variety of heavy equipment including person lift and forklift
- Minimum 7-10 years of construction/carpentry/plumbing experience
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Work is performed primarily in mechanical rooms, basements, attics, and cooling towers with frequent exposure to weather conditions, varying degrees of noise, and temperature extremes.
- Frequent operation of tool cat forklift, person lift, and golf carts.
- Requires mobility to traverse campus either by foot or mobilized machine. This includes moving up and down stairs or hills between facilities multiple times throughout the work day.
- Regularly ascends, descends ladders to perform work on roofs, ceilings, and walls.
- Frequent lifting and moving of materials up to 60 lbs.
- Frequent bending, squatting, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and kneeling.
- Must be able to follow guidelines for safety and use protective equipment as necessary.
- Carries work phone during shift.
SCHEDULE
- This is a full-time, 12-month position. Specific days and hours will be determined by the Director of Facilities. Requires occasional mandatory evening and weekend overtime work.
