  • Multidisciplinary Leadership: Lead daily interprofessional rounds, formulate individualized treatment plans, and drive collaborative decision-making across surgical, cardiology, heart failure, and consulting services.
  • Procedures: Perform bed-side critical care procedures (e.g., central venous access, arterial lines, chest tubes, intubations, diagnostic/bedside ultrasound/echocardiography) aligned with training and privileges.
  • Transitions & Escalation: Direct clinical management during acute destabilization, cardiogenic shock escalation protocols, and transitions of care across the continuum.
  • Team Supervision & Education: Provide mentorship, clinical supervision, and hands-on education to APPs, fellows, residents, and nursing staff.
  • Patient & Family Engagement: Lead compassionate, transparent discussions regarding goals of care, prognosis, and treatment strategies with patients and their families.
  • Quality & Program Development: Participate in CVICU clinical protocol development, quality improvement projects, patient safety initiatives, and multidisciplinary committees.
