What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist position at Catholic Health?
CDI Specialist
Ready to translate your acute care experience into a strategic healthcare role? We’re hiring a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to join our dynamic team!
Why This Role Matters
Every patient story deserves to be told accurately in the medical record. As a CDI Specialist, you aren't just looking at charts—you are the vital link between clinical care, quality metrics, and accurate coding. By translating complex clinical indicators into precise documentation, you ensure our hospital accurately reflects patient acuity and delivers the highest quality outcomes.
The Impact You'll Make
- Be the Clinical Detective: Analyze inpatient records concurrently to spot documentation gaps, identifying missing diagnoses supported by clinical data.
- Partner with Physicians: Move past standard "chart reviewing" to become a trusted advisor to our providers, facilitating queries and offering meaningful documentation education.
- Drive Compliance & Quality: Collaborate with HIM and Coding departments to ensure organizational alignment and stellar quality outcomes.
Who You Are
- A Licensed Clinician: You hold a current NYS RN, PA, or NP license.
- Acute Care Veteran: You have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in an acute care setting (bedside, case management, etc.) and know pathology inside and out.
- An Excellent Communicator: You are confident, articulate, and comfortable building rapport or holding educational conversations with medical staff.
- A Critical Thinker: You look beyond the surface of a chart to connect the dots between clinical indicators and final diagnoses.
Note: Prior CDI experience is fantastic, but if you have strong clinical judgment and a passion for accuracy, we want to hear from you!
What We Offer:
- Competitive compensation and robust benefits packaging.
- A collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.
