Clerical Assistant

Clerical Assistant RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meeting, greeting, and orienting patients to floor
• Answering questions from patients and/or family members or redirects to appropriate care team member for response
• Transcribes orders; prepares pt. chart on admission; ensures that chart is maintained appropriately; dismantles chart upon discharge; prepares diet & census sheets; rewrites medex' once a week; prepares venipuncture list; assists in coordinating and compiling statistics as needed Performs patient and specimen transport duties
• Assists the care team with the discharge process
• Answers telephones in a professional manner; distributes mail

 QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a doctor's office or health care facility
• Must be computer literate and proficient in word processing. Medical terminology preferred
