What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Catholic Diocese of Wichita?
The Catholic Diocese of Wichita is seeking an individual with extensive experience in accounting to serve as Assistant Controller. This position will be responsible for assisting the Controller with the overall administration of accounting activities for the Catholic Diocese of Wichita (Chancery office) and related departments and agencies. This will include assisting the Controller in the analysis, interpretation and presentation of financial data.
Candidates must demonstrate a fundamental background and experience in accounting and a knowledge of accounting principles and reporting practices. It would be helpful if this individual possessed an understanding of the Catholic Church and its structures. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work well with diocesan leadership, co-workers, pastors, and their staffs.
Qualifications include:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting
· Three to five years related accounting experience
· Experience with not-for-profit accounting preferred
· Strong computer and accounting software skills required, specifically Excel
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proven analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
· Prefer individual who is a practicing Catholic in good standing and an active steward in one’s parish
· Supervisory experience helpful.
