Job Summary:
The Paraprofessional for Student Testing and Special Needs Support assists in providing academic, behavioral, and faith-based support to students with diverse learning needs. This individual works under the supervision of certified teachers and the Director of Special Education to help ensure all students receive the necessary accommodations and support to reach their fullest potential—academically, socially, and spiritually—in accordance with the mission of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School.

Job Summary:
The Paraprofessional for Student Testing and Special Needs Support assists in providing academic, behavioral, and faith-based support to students with diverse learning needs. This individual works under the supervision of certified teachers and the Director of Special Education to help ensure all students receive the necessary accommodations and support to reach their fullest potential—academically, socially, and spiritually—in accordance with the mission of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the administration of standardized, diagnostic, and classroom testing for students with approved accommodations.
- Provide testing support including reading aloud, scribing, providing extended time, and monitoring small-group or one-on-one testing environments.
- Support teachers in implementing instructional and behavioral strategies aligned with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
- Reinforce classroom instruction by assisting students with assignments, study skills, and organizational strategies.
- Promote a supportive and faith-centered learning environment that reflects the values of respect, compassion, and dignity for every student.
- Assist students in developing self-advocacy, communication, and social-emotional skills.
- Collect and record data on student progress toward academic and behavioral goals.
- Supervise students during transitions, testing, lunch, recess, or other designated times as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and personal information in accordance with FERPA and diocesan policy.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and other support staff to ensure consistent and coordinated services for students.
- Participate in school-wide faith and community activities, contributing to the Catholic identity and mission of St. Thomas Aquinas.
- Attend professional development sessions as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
- Prior experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
- Ability to demonstrate patience, compassion, and discretion when working with students and families.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow teacher and administrative directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and ethical standards in education settings.
- School environment with duties that may include classroom support, testing rooms, and student supervision areas.
- May involve occasional lifting or physical assistance for students with mobility needs.
- Schedule aligned with the school calendar.
