POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Incumbent is responsible for serving the mission of Catholic Community Services by acting as the Program Coordinator and providing oversight, coordination, and support for the CCSNW Food Bank and other CCSNW community programs as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer oversight:
- Recruit and oversee a network of volunteers
- Orient and train volunteers to ensure maximum understanding of program policies and agency guidelines, assure confidentiality and promote safety.
- Assist with providing training and ongoing support for volunteers as needed.
- Assist with recognition and activities for motivation and retention of volunteers.
- Monitor and evaluate volunteer satisfaction.
· Operations & Mission:
working closely with the Director of Community Programs, plan, operate, and oversee all aspects of the CCSNW Food Bank (set up, policies & procedures, promo, client intake, food ordering, inventory, cleanliness, safety, health fair, taco stand, donation collection, etc .).
Work to build a hospitable, dignified, relationship-centered, and joy-filled environment for guests and volunteers of the CCSNW Food Bank.
Order, receive, and store food, operating equipment, and supplies based on food bank operating procedures, safety, and vision.
Implement and oversee the CCSNW Food Bank nutrition policy and growth goals.
· Assist with Financial Management:
o In collaboration with the Director of Community Programs, develop and manage operating budget; administer food purchasing budget of $250,000
o In collaboration with the Director of Community Programs, design and implement a comprehensive fund development strategy including pursuing grant applications and community support
o Assist with agreements and reporting with governmental and non-governmental organizations, grantors, vendors, contractors
· Community Involvement:
o Participate actively in the Whatcom County Food Bank Network and represent the food bank and Catholic Community Services at events or meetings essential to funding and partnership development
o Work with the Archdiocese of Seattle’s Agape Service Project team to accomplish the program mission and goals
o Communicate plans, changes and needs regularly to Director of Community Programs/fellow staff and other necessary parties
o Evaluate food bank for improvement, including feedback from guests/recipients of services
· Serve the Spanish-speaking community with language access
o Assist with any/all aspects of program coordination in CCSNW community programs as needed
LOGISTICS:
• During food bank operations, this role requires 30-40 hours per week May-September
• Operating equipment (pallet jacks, etc.) and driving vehicles (vans, trucks) for food pick-up, deliveries, and operations is required
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
· High School Diploma or GED
· 2 years’ experience overseeing/coordinating a food bank/food access point
· Experience with leadership/oversight, organization and coordinating volunteers of all ages
· Bilingual (English-Spanish)
· Must be over 21 years of age
· Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
· Must be able to lift, unload, move food and supplies (at least 65 pounds)
· Reliable transportation, WA State Driver’s License & proof of current automobile insurance.
· Proof of acceptable driving record (Driving Abstract-Complete driving record required).
· Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work under pressure in time constraints
· Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent tasks
· Ability to motivate others and foster an energizing, cooperative environment
· Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
· Current CPR/First aid and Food Handlers required (or willingness to obtain prior to season)
