Position Summary:

Provide management and ongoing development of clinical and administrative practices in mental health programming. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to mental health services. Continually improve the level of client care. Establish and nurture community relations. As a member of the administrative team, and with support from the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Director of Quality and Performance, ensure high quality programming. Comply with all agency, State of Ohio, and Council on Accreditation and/or CARF standards and policies. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Director will also have the opportunity to take on individual cases, up to five sessions per week, as time permits.

Essential Job Functions:

Supervision Duties

A. Develop and maintain acceptable standards of professional practice through supervision, planning, evaluation, and study of developments and trends in the field of mental health.

B. Provide regular administrative and clinical supervision including annual written performance evaluations to mental health clinicians and staff.

C. Supervise Post Adoption Services (PAS), including monthly supervision of PAS social worker.

D. Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.

E. Uphold the agency’s mission.

F. Complete all required Relias and Safe Parish trainings.

Administrative Duties

A. Preparation/revision of agency program descriptions, promotional materials, etc.

B. Monitor, develop and update mental health programming quality improvement practices; ensure program compliance with licensing regulations, funder expectations, and COA/CARF.

C. Liaise with Behavioral Health Billing Solutions (BHBS) to ensure optimal billing and reimbursements, appropriate staff credentialing, and contractual compliance.

D. Work together with contracted community partners to ensure high quality clinical care and contractual obligations are met.

E. Participate in monthly administrative meetings and serve on the Continuous Quality Improvement Executive Committee.

F. Prepare and assist with reports, grant applications, program proposals.

G. Work with CFO and COO to develop and meet annual program budget and goals.

H. Provide presentations in community, as assigned.

I. Participate in the hiring, orientation, supervision, and coaching of clinical staff.

J. Manage staff by recommending, through evaluation, data and observation, the assignment, promotion, demotion, probation and release of staff. Plan and control staffing levels.

K. Manage time cards and time off requests for assigned staff.

Clinical Duties

A. Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical outpatient mental health therapy to clients, as scheduled.

B. Complete clinical documentation within expected timeframes.

C. Maintain required billable hours. Work hours must be maintained in a way that is responsive to client needs.

D. Maintain good standing with appropriate boards and insurance entities.

E. Secure client information per HIPPA standards.

F. Maintain case files within electronic health record (EHR) that are up-to-date and completed within expected guidelines.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Mental Health Therapists, Intake Coordinator/Administrative Assistant, Student Interns, Psychiatric Nurse, Independent Contractor(s), and Post Adoption Social Worker.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in behavioral health related field from an accredited school with a strong demonstrated interest/experience in management processes.

2. Independent Licensure with Supervisory Designation required.

3. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in supervisory/management/administrative capacity.

4. Demonstrate cultural humility in direct care and supervision.

5. Ability to effectively communicate and facilitate group and interpersonal activities.

6. Knowledge and experience with managed care, and third-party payers such as Medicaid/Medicare.

7. Strong understanding of Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services rules and regulations.

8. Knowledge and experience with trauma-informed care.

9. Knowledge and comfort in the use of electronic health records, word processing, spreadsheet/databases, email and peripherals.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Knowledge and experience in diagnosis and treatment both behavioral health and substance-use disorders.

2. Experience with Carelogic electronic health records system.

3. Fluency in Spanish and/or additional languages other than English.

Work Environment:

Typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.

Must be able to meet the following physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Talk to other employees/clients and hear them
  • See and be able to read, write, and interpret written documents
  • Occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds
