Job Summary
The Lead Direct Support Professional is a position that will support the Residential Supervisor in the successful operation of the group home, communicate regularly with families on routine matters, and provide the on-the-job (“OJT”) training for all new hires. This position also performs most of their time in the delivery of exemplary client care services and will role model how to provide excellent cares to clients.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Job Related Experience: At least two years of DSP experience. Prefer candidates that have at least one year experience working at Catholic Charities Group Homes.
Other: Must possess a valid driver’s license and must be able to successfully pass a background and driving check.
Scheduling and Supervision
We are hiring for DSP Leads for the Cold Spring and St. Cloud Group Homes. Employee's shifts will typically be afternoon/evening shifts (e.g., 2 PM - 10 PM), including rotating weekends. The position reports directly to the Residential Supervisor.
- Please note that all DSP shifts are designated as AWAKE shifts, irrespective of whether they occur during the day, evening, or overnight hours.
What You Will Do
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for training & mentoring of new hires. Lead the on-the-job training for new staff. Organize shadow shifts for new staff.
- Accountable for communication with families: share routine matters/updates with client families and document in client logs.
- Facilitate the house/home management: review and problem solve any house or staff issues/concerns with Residential Supervisor; create and foster a positive environment and work culture at the house daily and during team meetings.
- Client Care: Maintain responsibility for day-to-day client care via reviewing all communication logs, progress notes, and data sheets; develop a therapeutic and skill building relationship with each client and model this to house staff; provide personal cares for clients as necessary; responsible for planning and/or facilitating leisure activities or client outings; and continually assess and reassess client behaviors and assist supervisor in modifying client plans as necessary.
- Trainings: Ensure that all employees complete the required training by the established deadline.
