Area/Program Focus: City of Richmond Immigration Legal Services

Project position ending June 30, 2027.

Position Summary:  Catholic Charities of the East Bay (CCEB) is strongly committed to the well-being and self-sufficiency of immigrant families. The Immigration Legal Services Department provides low-income families with free and low-cost quality immigration legal and citizenship services. Must be a City of Richmond Resident to apply.

The Outreach Coordinator is being hired in connection with the City of Richmond Immigration and Outreach project. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for providing up-to-date information on immigrant rights and other topics to the Richmond, CA community. The Outreach Coordinator will help clients connect to trustworthy legal services providers and may also be asked to support with direct legal representation to clients in matters such as U-Visa and VAWA applications, DACA and naturalization cases.

Reports to: Managing Attorney

Supervisory Responsibility: May supervise legal assistants, other support staff and volunteers, and participate in biweekly case rounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide up-to-date presentations to the immigrant community of Richmond on their individual rights and current immigration law and policy topics.
  • Provide screenings for potential immigration relief to City of Richmond residents.
  • As directed by the Managing Attorney, maintains a small caseload of affirmative immigration client cases.
  • Participating in workshops for the public and collaborative partners on basic pathways to residency/citizenship and immigration benefits eligibility
  • Over 18 months, engage a minimum of three hundred sixty (360) Richmond residents in community education and outreach activities.
  • Conduct a minimum of twenty-four (24) outreach events per year, each with at least fifteen (15) participants, facilitated by the Immigration Outreach Worker or other immigration staff.
  • Deliver at least twenty (20) Know-Your-Rights workshops during the City of Richmond Immigration and Outreach program, in English, Spanish, and additional threshold languages as required.
  • Document all outreach events, client activity, and all other work related to immigration legal services in the City of Richmond.
  • Work with the communications department to develop and distribute multilingual outreach materials, including online resources, micro-videos, and printed handouts.
  • Execute a coordinated public awareness campaign using print, digital, and social media platforms in multiple languages.
  • Partner with the City of Richmond, schools, and other community service providers on outreach events and activities.

Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or University level education equivalent from other countries
  • Fluent English and Spanish language proficiency
  • Must be a city of Richmond resident (required)
  • High level of independent judgment
  • Experience working with low-income, immigrant, and monolingual Spanish-speaking communities.
  • Excellent Public Speaker
  • High analytical abilities to spot issues and plan legal services for clients
  • Professional level skills using Word, Excel, and Acrobat.  Proven ability to master legal database systems

Salary : $60,000
