- Position 2: Thursday–Monday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM

Catholic Charities is seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our H.O.U.S.E. (Helping Others Until Self-Empowered) Program, a short-term emergency assistance shelter serving families experiencing homelessness.
As a DSP, you will play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for families while they work toward securing permanent housing and greater stability.
You will be a key member of the shelter team and a primary point of contact for clients, visitors, service providers, and community partners.

What You'll Do
Our Direct Support Professionals are essential to the daily operation of the shelter. Responsibilities include:
- Welcome and assist clients, visitors, providers, and community partners with professionalism, compassion, and respect.
- Monitor the shelter environment and help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming setting.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to questions and concerns, greet visitors, and monitor the main entrance.
- Ensure visitor sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed.
- Provide clients with information, encouragement, and support while following shelter policies and procedures.
- Respond appropriately to challenging, emergency, or time-sensitive situations.
- Monitor and address shelter rule violations, unapproved guests, and property concerns in a professional manner.
- Communicate significant incidents, safety concerns, and rule violations to the Site Supervisor.
- Assist with client move-in and move-out procedures, including unit walkthroughs, keys, paperwork, and condition reports.
- Conduct weekly unit inspections and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Prepare client units for new arrivals, including food, linens, household supplies, and other necessary items.
- Organize and distribute client mail and packages according to program procedures.
- Maintain and restock shelter supplies, emergency food pantry items, cleaning supplies, PPE, and client-use supplies.
- Assist with fire drills, emergency preparedness activities, and other safety procedures.
- Maintain organized and presentable office, common, and meeting areas.
- Complete required documentation, reports, logs, work orders, and other program records.
- Work collaboratively with Site Supervisors, Case Managers, maintenance staff, service providers, and other team members.
- Attend required trainings and participate in supervision and team activities.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a shelter, residential, human services, social services, or related setting preferred.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable, insured vehicle required.
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, documentation standards, and safety protocols.
- Ability to fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities related to abuse and neglect.
- Must be able to meet applicable background screening requirements.

Working Environment
This position involves working in a shelter environment and may include:
- Weekend and holiday work based on the assigned schedule.
- Frequent interaction with clients, families, visitors, and service providers.
- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations.
- Frequent interruptions and periods of loud noise.
- Varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and other physical activity throughout the shift.
- Travel to assigned sites as required.
