GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

This position supports the conference center coordinator with all corporate and private events for companies, organizations, and individuals, as well as assists with internal events. This is a part-time-casual position with hours being worked as needed to support the St. Michael’s Conference Center mainly on weekend nights, with occasional weekdays. Hours will vary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports all elements of an event to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Represents the agency in a positive way interacting with guests and sponsors.
  • Assists with event setup and breakdown.
  • Must be an outgoing individual who works well with others, including guests of all ages.
  • Must be service-oriented team player who can take initiative, work independently, and quickly adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • May support networking events to increase awareness of the Conference Center.
  • Supports the operations and compliance of the event space, including equipment maintenance and Health Department regulations.
  • Must be able to work weekends – most often late night events as required. Occasional days may also need support.
  • Reports complaints, grievances, and incidents within the department and/or Agency.
  • Informs designated Agency staff, or CEO, of any unsafe work conditions.
  • Attends department and staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Performs all job-related duties as required for department/program operations that are judged to be essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma/GED required.

Experience: Experience in large-scale events or hospitality is a plus. Should have an understanding of client and vendor management practices.

Training/Certification (if applicable): Must be able to participate in required trainings and classes.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • General knowledge of computers, working with Microsoft Office programs and database entry systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgement.
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with individuals and the public in a courteous and effective manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to talk and hear to effectively communicate and educate individuals and communicate with supervisor and clients in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time; walk low-moderate distances; sit for prolonged periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle, touch, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop or kneel; and/or crouch or crawl pending activity, event participation, and/or other work-related item within various environments.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 25 pounds for transporting program supply materials, if needed.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that has a moderate noise level and may experience low-moderate interruptions throughout the day.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Staff must abide by all policies and procedures of Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties, which includes the Agency’s stance on abortion, and the Agency’s Mission and Vision, and the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy outlined by the Catholic Church and Code of Ethics.

Must pass all background and clearance checks including, but not limited to a criminal background check, DHHS Central Registry Clearance check, and others as deemed applicable, and must have a valid driver’s license or state ID.

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
