Salary: $26.26 per hour 

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Head Start program is seeking an Early Learning Home Visitor to support school readiness and lifelong success by partnering with parents and children in 30-minute, parent-led coaching and educational sessions. This role provides home-based child development and family support services, implements an educational curriculum through home visits, and connects families with community resources by referral and assessments. The Early Learning Home Visitor will attend and recruit outreach events with coordinator periodically to ensure enrollment of families on a rolling basis. The work schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts home visits five days per week, meeting with parents and children twice weekly for 30-minute sessions, ensuring consistent engagement and service delivery.
  • Demonstrates warmth, patience, and a culturally responsive approach through active, empathetic listening, validation of family experiences, and individualized service delivery; ability to communicate and write in Spanish required.
  • Maintain required home visiting materials and proactively inform the Coordinator of supply needs (e.g., program materials, raincoat, rolling crate, floor mat) to ensure preparedness for all visits.
  • Completes required program and data management training (initial 16 hours) prior to working with families and participate in weekly two-hour reflective coaching sessions; maintain ongoing professional development in Early Childhood Education.
  • Maintains accurate, confidential case files, including weekly home visit reports, tracking of materials delivered, and documentation of completed and missed visits, referrals, and assessments to monitor family progress throughout program cycles.
  • Attends quarterly meetings with the Regional Director and West Baltimore ParentChild team to share community resources and support ongoing professional development
  • Participates in occasional public speaking engagements at funder or community events, representing the Early Learning Specialist role and sharing experiences working with families in East Baltimore.
  • Attends community events to distribute resources directly, receiving and delivering donations with prior coordinator approval.
  • Maintains an accurate and up-to-date Outlook schedule, adjusting client visits as needed with coordinator approval to ensure effective service coordination.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in early childhood education, home visiting, family support services, or a closely related field.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Training certifications and knowledge of BRIDGE, DAISY, and Relias – preferred.

  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers by following established safety protocols, promptly addressing hazards, and promoting a culture of accountability to ensure the well-being of all individuals in the workplace.
  • The employee must preserve all rights and protections under the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 for the consumer population served by this agency; it is the obligation of the employee to ensure that private health information is protected and that disclosures are permitted only with appropriate authorization.
  • Displays excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Effectively relates to and provides compassionate care for individuals with diverse personalities and needs.
  • Demonstrates patience and composure when working with children and interacting with parents, fostering positive relationships.
  • Utilizes a strong understanding of early childhood teaching strategies to support developmental growth and learning.
  • Effectively connects with children, creating an engaging and enjoyable environment.
  • Requires proficiency in using computer systems and software to perform job function, including but not limited to, basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook. Knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and Box is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Hybrid work options are available, contingent upon business needs and performance expectations in alignment with the Agency’s policy.
  • Ascending or descending stairs or other similar structures as required to perform job tasks.
  • Positioning oneself in ways to accomplish tasks in various environments, including navigating tight or confined spaces as needed to complete job responsibilities.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or transitioning between different work sites, which may involve walking, standing, or traveling to various locations as required by the role.
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties
  • Engaging in communication with others to exchange information, which may involve speaking, listening, writing, or using electronic communication methods to ensure clear and effective understanding. This includes both verbal and non-verbal interactions with colleagues, clients, or external parties.
  • Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, including tasks such as typing, data entry, or handling small objects. These repetitive activities may occur throughout the workday and require attention to ergonomics to ensure comfort and minimize strain.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and completeness of assigned work to ensure it meets quality standards and adheres to established guidelines.
  • Hearing and vision abilities, with or without correction, sufficient to drive safely and effectively observe and communicate with others.
  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence.   There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede drivers’ ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
  • May involve working in various outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and high winds. Employees may be exposed to these elements for extended periods. Protective gear such as waterproof clothing, warm layers, or wind-resistant apparel will be necessary to ensure comfort and safety while performing job duties in inclement weather.
