Threads of Hope Thrift Store in Sanford is seeking a reliable and motivated Thrift Store Key Holder to join our team. We resell donated items at deep discounts to fund programs of Catholic Charities Maine. This part-time role is an excellent opportunity to build upon retail supervisory experience while supporting a mission-driven organization.
The Thrift Store Key Holder opens and/or closes the retail store and registers. They stock and verify cash amounts in registers. They are responsible for effective performance of the shift & ensure duties are completed. They play an important role in store operations including friendly customer service to customers and donors alike, merchandise sorting & pricing, and maintaining the cycle of accepting, sorting & reselling donated items.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and/or close the store at the beginning and/or end of the business day.
- Welcome and assist customers and donors with dignity and respect. Inform customers of promotions & sales and the agency mission & programs. Provide excellent customer service.
- Assist the Thrift Store Manager & Assistant Manager to maintain operational standards, enforce policies, implement promotional & merchandising strategies.
- Support and work cooperatively with volunteers.
- Operate the register and responsibly handle cash transactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment
- Work independently while supporting overall store operations
Schedule
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday
- 8:45 AM – 3:00 PM (25 hours/week)
- Saturdays are required
Pay $16.00 – $19.00 per hour (based on experience)

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required and basic math knowledge/skills.
- At least one (1) year of retail supervisory experience or comparable skills
- Previous experience of responsible cash-handling & thrift store experience preferred.
- Extremely reliable, honest, ethical, integrity, and sense of responsibility
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Sound judgment and professional demeanor
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds
- Frequent bending, reaching, and grasping
- Comfortable using rolling racks and standard retail equipment
