Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland is seeking compassionate, mission-driven, and dedicated candidates for our direct care Parent Mentor (Human Service Worker II) position. Located in Wooster, OH, this position will assist parents in Holmes County and Wayne County who have been referred by the Holmes County Juvenile Court or the Wayne County Juvenile Court that are in need of intensive home-based parent coaching, mentoring and support in order to assist with challenging child behaviors. The goal is to empower the parent to create and maintain strong family relationships, set clear limits for children and build a caregiver's confidence. Staff will utilize evidence based and trauma sensitive program curriculum to coach parents on building and maintaining a positive family environment.

Company Information:
Catholic Charities, Wayne County is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and their families by providing exceptional care and compassion. The individual in this position will provide in-home support and coaching to a parent or caregiver with the goal of maintaining a child in the home to avoid out-of-home placement.
What you will do:
- Provide intensive (2 - 3 times per week) in-home parent coaching and support to parents/caregivers referred by the Holmes County Juvenile Court and the Wayne County Juvenile Court.
- Receive Triple P Parenting education and/or other parenting training and utilize this training to offer parenting support interventions to parents or caregivers with a child with challenging behaviors.
- Complete documentation of interventions in Catholic Charities' Electronic Health Record, complete reports to the juvenile courts and Catholic Charities, participate in meetings with the court regarding the individual. Staff member may attend court hearings as needed.
- Support a parent by attending and participating in school and other community meetings, make linkages to other services available, and provide mentoring and coaching on any activities that will help maintain a child in the home and build a positive family environment.
- The person in the position may also assist in other tasks related to juvenile court services including facilitating groups, juvenile court mental health screenings and responding to families in need of linkages as identified by law enforcement.
- Gather data, assessment information and provide any information needed for necessary reporting.
- Meet regularly with Catholic Charities staff members for supervision and strategizing to best help a child and family in need.
Program Statement:
The Parent Coach position strives to empower parents to build strong relationships with their child to address behavioral challenges. The staff member will work closely with probation officers from the juvenile courts and with Catholic Charities staff to increase family stability and reduce out of home placements.
What you will do:
The staff member will meet regularly with the parents/guardian of a youth referred from the juvenile court. This may include 2 - 3 visits or contacts a week depending upon the needs and the family availability. The position does require travel within Holmes County and Wayne County .
Staff will receive training in a parent education model. Utilizing this evidence-based parenting education, the staff member will build rapport with the family to focus on the family's strengths and offer coaching to address challenging issues. The staff member will meet regularly with probation officers from the court and with Catholic Charities staff in order to collaborate and to address any issues with the youth and family. The staff member may accompany a parent to school meetings, juvenile court hearings, doctor's appointment or other meetings involving the youth. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive and lasting impact on a family in need.
