Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster is looking for a part-time Education and Outreach Coordinator 1 for the Sullivan County Prevention Program.
Summary: The Education and Outreach Coordinator (EOC) will be responsible for building, and ultimately implementing, evidence-based substance use prevention programs and strategies across the lifespan with emphasis on youth through young adulthood in south eastern portion of the Sullivan County to include, but not limited to: Bloomingburg, Mamakating, Wurtsboro, Fallsburg and Monticello. The EOC will build relationships across multiple community sectors to increase prevention services in those communities. The EOC will represent Catholic Charities of Orange, Sullivan & Ulster at community coalition and other task focused, collaborative groups in the project area, as well as initiatives and events that serve both the general and at-risk communities the prevention department serves. This position will work closely with the Director of Prevention Services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement both evidence-based and promising practice programs for youth in the project area.
- Act as a referral source for schools and other community-based agencies regarding substance use prevention and other services such as substance use treatment, housing, and food insecurity needs.
- Research and assist schools and other organizations working with children to integrate effective alcohol and drug prevention components into their curriculum and programming.
- Provide education on substance use trends and prevention to both youth and adults in the project area.
- Act as an agency representative of CCOSU at community events and task-focused collaborative groups such as the SALT coalition and Coalition for a Vape-Free Sullivan. Assist the collaboratives internal organization as requested, as well as assist in the coordination of training and event requests for these collaboratives
- Coordinate and implement agency and coalition educational outreach with community partners and residents throughout the project area.
- Other duties as requested.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. However, due to the nature of the position, night and weekend work will be required. Schedule flexibility and reliable transportation are required.

- Enter and exit buildings to outdoors on a constant basis to gain entry to other buildings and to public.
Qualifications
Education and/or experience required:
Applicant must have:
- An Associate’s Degree with a minimum of one year’s experience in prevention of chemical dependency and/or two years’ experience working in the public/private sector preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree without experience in the substance use prevention field will be considered.
Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and sound knowledge of chemical dependency, as well as experience as a public presenter or trainer.
- Must have the ability to work with and motivate people of varied ages, educational and income levels and of diverse ethnic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of Microsoft products.
