What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Director Family Child Care position at Catholic Charities Boston?
The Deputy Director will assist in the management and business operations of center based child care programs and family child care systems within Catholic Charities. The Deputy Director will work closely with the Divisional Director to ensure the fiscal soundness and overall management of the childcare division. The Deputy Director will assume authority in the absence of the Divisional Director.
Essential Functions
Maintain personal and professional confidentiality andboundaries.Participatein interviewing,hiringandonboarding for childcare employees when needed.Follow agency and program policies and procedures and ensure each program is adhering to regulations asestablishedby EEC and Catholic Charities.Conducton-going programevaluationwith program directorstoensure targeted enrollment figures, contractutilization, and contract compliance.Assure that programs and sites have community connections through membership on local councils, boards, early childhood events, local public schools, communityfairsand local political liaisons.Identifyleadership and direct carestaff development needs andfacilitatenecessary training, coaching, and professional development opportunitiesfor thechildcaredivision.Support program directors with employee relationmattersas needed.Participate indevelopingperformanceplans as neededfor thechildcaredivision which mayincludeworkingwiththeprogram directorandhumanresources for termination decisions. Approve requests for time offin accordance withprogram needs and approve employee timesheets. Utilize all social services withinCatholic Charitiesto create comprehensive services to clients while expanding a client base throughout the agency.Liaison with themarketingteamto promote the marketing effort for all programs. Assist DivisionalDirector in monitoringfoodprogram, licensing, and state contracts for compliance.Conduct monthly supervision with childcare directors withappropriate documentationof supervision.Participate in the performance evaluation process to ensure that each employee is reviewed annually. Serve as a representative of Catholic Charities on local and state issues effecting the needs, issues, and services for the communities we serve.Participate in the annual budget process.Work is performed inchildcare classrooms andofficeenvironmentwith travel to building locations.Use of general office equipment including phones and computers. May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.Some lifting up to 15 lbs.required.Promote a positive, caring climate foremployees.Attendagencytrainingsand meetings. AttendDivisionalDirectormeetings and trainings;assistDivisionalDirector in creating the monthly agenda.Local travelto perform and meet the expectations of the position.Other responsibilities asrequired.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education,Master’spreferred.A minimum of eight years of prior experience working with children in achildcare program. A minimum of four yearsofprior experience supervising others.Proven knowledge of EEC guidelines, including QRIS,UPK, andNAEYC Accreditation, and CACFP.Willingnessand abilityto work with a diverse population.Strongobservation and communication skills.Strong organizational skills.Ability tomaintainemotional control under stress. Ability to work with frequent interruptions.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applicationsinclude virtual platforms.A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for local travel.Punctual attendance.Ability to work evening or weekend hours as needed.
