Material Handler I

Summary Description

Guardian Rail is proud to operate one of the country’s leading freight rail services and transportation companies with a large network of freight and tank car repair facilities, a nationwide network of running repair agents, and a rail services division that operates short line railroads and contract switching and transloading sites.

The successful candidate will, under the direction of the Materials Manager, accurately support the daily operations of the production and maintenance departments by effectively receiving, shipping, inventorying, issuing, and maintaining materials needed in the daily operations of these departments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and tag incoming material.
• Move and inventory materials in their respective area.
• Issue parts to work in process.
• Maintain materials/inventory in accordance with written procedures.
• Transport parts to respective work areas.
• Return cores and unused parts to inventory.
• Clean and maintain work area and inventory yard.
• Perform cycle counting as directed
• Follow all safety rules, keep the work area clean, and comply with all OSHA and Guardian Environmental, Health and Safety Policies
• Comply with the Company's Quality Program by following all in-house quality processes and procedures and required AAR and FRA rules and regulations as well as any client-specific procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required
• Minimum of one year of previous materials or warehouse experience required
• Valid driver's license (CDL a plus).
• Experience in forklift operations
• Good basic math skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
