About Catch Up & Read

Catch Up & Read equips children to read on grade level by the end of third grade so they can succeed in school and life. We partner with teachers to deliver evidence-based literacy interventions and professional coaching grounded in the Science of Reading. Since 2009, Catch Up & Read has worked in Title I schools across North Texas, training 500 teachers and improving reading outcomes for over 50,000 students.

Position Summary

As a Literacy Coach, you’ll play a hands-on role in strengthening teacher practice, to support students to become confident readers. You’ll train teachers on best practices for small-group reading interventions, coach teachers in research-based literacy strategies, manage up to four (4) cohorts of teachers, track student growth data, and collaborate with principals and families to build a culture of reading success.

Key Responsibilities

●    Drive Student Growth: Deliver Catch Up & Read’s structured literacy program to teachers with fidelity; track student progress using mCLASS, iReady, and phonics data; ensure consistent student attendance and engagement.

●    Coach Teachers: Model lessons, provide feedback, and facilitate data meetings and PLCs to strengthen classroom instruction.

●    Use Data to Inform Practice: Collect and analyze student and teacher data; use insights to tailor interventions and coaching.

●    Partner with Schools and Families: Build strong relationships with principals and parents; organize family literacy events and support campus engagement.

●    Contribute to Catch Up & Read’s Mission: Share insights and best practices, support organization-wide events, and embody Catch Up & Read’s values: Commitment to Excellence, Continuous Learning, Confidence, Collaboration, and Celebration.

Qualifications

●    Bachelor’s degree required (Education or Literacy preferred)

●    Valid Texas teaching certification (EC–6 or 4–8)

●    Minimum 2 years teaching reading in K–3, preferably in Title I schools

●    Knowledge of the Science of Reading and explicit phonics instruction required

●    Coaching experience or strong desire to grow as a coach (Preferred)

●    Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Student Assessment Metrics
