Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Research Nurse specializing in Pulmonology and Respiratory medicine to join our dynamic research team. Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage clinical trials related to pulmonology and respiratory conditions, ensuring adherence to study protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories, with a focus on respiratory health.
- Comfortable with EKG, Spirometry, Forced oscillatory technique, BODE Score, CAAT and FeNo.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy as required by study protocols.
- Collect and process specimens accurately, maintaining sterile techniques and proper documentation in accordance with HIPAA standards, and shipping with IATA requirements
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for data entry, patient documentation, and tracking study progress.
- Utilize CRIO, RealTime, and EDC (Medidata, Datarave, etc.) for data entry, patient documentation, and tracking study progress.
- Educate patients about study procedures, medication administration, and safety protocols while providing compassionate care tailored to diverse populations including geriatrics, or patients with disabilities.
- Monitor patients’ response to treatments such as ventilator management or oxygen therapy during inpatient or outpatient visits.
- Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed during all procedures; maintain aseptic techniques during specimen collection and catheter care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians specializing in critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease care, or hospice & palliative medicine for comprehensive patient management.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with NCQA standards and CPT/ICD coding requirements for billing and reporting purposes.
Requirements
- GCP and IATA
- Valid nursing license with current CPR/BLS certification; experience with basic life support procedures essential.
- Proven clinical experience in hospital settings such as ICU, trauma centers (Level I or II), emergency rooms, or specialty units for complicated respiratory patients
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is prefferred.
- Experience administering injections (including IV insertion), specimen collection (venipuncture), catheter care, and performing physical examinations.
- Knowledge of physiology related to respiratory diseases; ability to perform diagnostic evaluations including pulmonary function tests is a plus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, infection control practices, HIPAA regulations, and medical documentation standards.
- Ability to work independently within research protocols while collaborating effectively with physicians and research coordinators.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including those in long-term care facilities like assisted living or nursing homes; familiarity with COPD patients, pain management patients or severe asthma.
- Critical care experience involving airway management or ventilator support is desirable; knowledge of infectious disease care and acute pain management is beneficial. Pay: $47.50 - $64.00 per hour
