Lactation Consultant Educator / W&C Education Center / Full-Time (32 hours)

Summary of Performance Expectations: Provides professional lactation management services to childbearing families. Directs the development, organization, administration and evaluation of breastfeeding related educational programs presented to the staff and community. Incorporates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life-span. Assesses and interprets data about patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs. Education and Credentials: Required:

• Graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
• Certification by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
• BCLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification.
• NRP certification within 3 months of employment.

Preferred: Work Experience: Required: Two years of maternal-child experience and one or more years of experience as a lactation consultant. Given training and on the job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date. Preferred: Job Shift:Day
