What are the responsibilities and job description for the Device Specialist position at Catawba Valley Health System?
Summary of Performance Expectations:
Under limited supervision delivers cardiac device technical support and performs a wide variety of nursing care activities and/or administrative duties for the Cardiology medical office outpatients under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or licensed advanced practice provider. Collaborates with other health care professionals and agencies to meet the needs of our customers. Must be competent in interrogation and programming of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators.
Education & Credentials:
Required
- Graduate of accredited nursing program.
- Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
- Graduate of accredited device program.
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
Work Experience
Required
One year experience in Cardiac patient care and proficient at administering IV medications. Given specialized training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of EKG, Treadmill Stress Tests, Amiodarone Clinic and Anticoagulation Therapy Clinic within one year of employment. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
- Two or more years’ experience in a Cardiology patient care setting including Treadmill Stress tests, EKGs, Anticoagulation Therapy and Nursing Diuretic Protocol.
- One year experience in interrogation, programming and interpretation of Pacemakers and Defibrillators as well as performing EKG’s. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in basic aspects of job within three months of employment date.
