What You’ll Do
As an Engineering Field Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring construction quality and compliance on active job sites. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing field testing, sampling, observations, and inspections of construction materials
- Conducting Construction Materials Testing (CMT) on concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, structural steel, fireproofing, and more
- Completing mathematical calculations, test data reduction, and preparing accurate field and laboratory documentation
- Communicating daily with contractors, project managers, engineers, and CVET staff
- Representing CVET professionally while supporting safe, high-quality construction practices
We want candidates who are reliable, safety-minded, and ready to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment. Qualified applicants should have:
- A high school diploma or GED (BSCE or EI candidates are also encouraged to apply)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform basic math and follow detailed testing procedures
- A willingness to work in varying weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs (mostly team lifts due to weight/shape)
- Availability for variable hours and overtime when needed
- Age 21 with a clean driving record (required to operate a company vehicle)
