Position Summary
The Catawba Nation Internship Program offers students and emerging young professionals the opportunity to build valuable job skills through hands-on experience. In a supportive and collaborative environment, interns will be learning professional workplace expectations alongside staff and mentors.
The intern will assist the department they are assigned to by helping with daily tasks, projects, and basic office or field support.
Essential Functions
- Gain hands-on experience in property maintenance and workplace safety practices.
- Observe and learn basic preventative maintenance procedures under supervision.
- Support staff with routine maintenance tasks and special projects as assigned.
- Assist with general grounds cleanup and property maintenance.
- Assist the Maintenance Department with weed eating and outdoor upkeep.
- Assist with pressure washing sidewalks, buildings, and other property areas.

Qualifications:Qualifications
- Must be a Catawba Citizen.
- Must be between the ages of 16-24.
- Must submit a Catawba tribal ID and resume.

- Ability to follow instructions, ask questions when needed, and learn new tasks quickly.
- Basic organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.

- Basic computer skills, including ability to use email and common office programs.
- Willingness to take initiative and assist with projects assigned.
- Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude toward learning.
- Ability to represent the Catawba Nation in a professional manner.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily outdoor and field-based work with regular use of maintenance tools and equipment
- Frequent interaction with staff, tribal citizens, and community members in work settings
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for community projects or events
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and other physical activity throughout the workday
- Regular lifting, carrying, and moving of tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions, including heat, humidity, dust, and uneven terrain
