Catawba County Public Health is recruiting for a highly skilled and motivated Charge Nurse to lead and coordinate the Care Management for High-Risk Pregnancy (CMHRP) program. This position plays a critical role in improving pregnancy outcomes by ensuring pregnant and postpartum women receive comprehensive, preventative, and integrated health services.
The Charge Nurse provides clinical oversight, supervises case management staff, ensures compliance with state and federal mandates, and serves as a key liaison among clients, healthcare providers, hospitals, and community partners. This leadership role requires strong clinical judgment, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to manage a high-performing multidisciplinary team.

- Coordinate and oversee the Care Management for High-Risk Pregnancy (CMHRP) program, including client eligibility determination, assessments, care planning, and risk-based follow-up
- Provide education, referrals, resource linkage, and timely documentation to support pregnant and postpartum women and their newborns
- Supervise Case Management Registered Nurses, including hiring support, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and daily guidance
- Ensure program compliance with Maternal and Child Health Agreement Addenda, Title V requirements, NC Administrative Rules, and the MOU with Catawba Valley Medical Center
- Review reports, monitor caseloads and outcomes, and participate in quality improvement and program evaluation activities
- Serve as a liaison with hospitals, medical providers, community agencies, and state partners; provide clinical support and oversee Prenatal Clinic operations
- Coordinate and conduct postpartum/newborn home visits as needed, including assessment, education, referrals, and documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, including a Public Health Nursing rotation, and 2 years of Public Health Nursing experience; OR
- Associate’s degree in Nursing and 3 years of professional nursing experience, including 2 years in public health
- A valid Driver’s license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position)
- Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR/BLS) or ability to obtain within the specified timeframe after hire

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide a multidisciplinary team
- Advanced problem-solving, independent judgment, and decision-making abilities
- Experience advocating for pregnant women, families, and children

- This position is considered light to medium work, requiring the ability to lift up to 30 pounds as well as the ability to carry, pull, and push up to 30 pounds
Salary : $70,171 - $87,714
