12-month contract for a System Administrator III with Active DoD SCI clearance in St. Louis, MO (5 days/week onsite)

The System Administrator III provides advanced engineering, system integration, and high-level administrative support for secure Closed Area environments. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade infrastructure - spanning Windows, Linux, virtualization clusters, security controls, and automation pipelines. This role requires independent technical leadership and deep subject matter expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Research, develop, and implement infrastructure tools and scalable technical solutions
- Lead development of new processes to improve operational and project efficiency
- Maintain update services for applications and infrastructure
- Recommend hardware architecture and enterprise software tools
- Manage and maintain multiple license server implementations
- Create, maintain, and support PKI infrastructure; advise customers on PKI-related solutions
- Build and sustain customer relationships
- Implement and uphold customer standards and industry best practices
- Facilitate problem recreation and deep-level failure analysis
- Present solutions to complex technical issues with consideration for business and operational impacts
- Participate in team meetings, provide technical insights, and support consensus building
- Maintain rapid escalation channels for critical issues
- Maintain hardware infrastructure in secured lab environments
- Install and support complex applications requiring advanced integration
- Create, follow, and review process documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Troubleshoot complex application, system, and integration issues
- Create and maintain Active Directory and VPN/Remote Access accounts
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot mandated secure Group Policy solutions
- Interface with customers, vendors, and SMEs for advanced issue resolution
- Perform system backups and restores
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active DoD SCI clearance required pre-start
- CompTIA Security CE required pre-start
- Minimum 5 years of experience integrating, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise technologies
- Must support both Windows and Linux enterprise environments, including:
- Extensive Windows Server administration (Server 2019 /Windows 10 )
- Extensive RHEL 8 (RHEL 9 a plus)
- VMware ESXi 7.0 cluster-level engineering experience required, including:
- Cluster configuration
- vCenter management
- Resource pools
- High-availability and DRS policies
- Performance tuning and capacity planning
- Advanced experience with:
- Active Directory administration
- GPO deployment and troubleshooting
- WSUS and SCCM for patching and compliance
- Experience administering:
- PKI infrastructure
- License server implementations
- Ability to lead root-cause analysis and resolve complex technical issues
- Ability to develop new processes and documentation
- Strong customer-facing communication abilities
- Highly self-directed and effective in dynamic environments
- Automation required
- Scripting proficiency required in:
- PowerShell
- Bash
- Python (preferred)
