AV Design Engineer
Location: Onsite in Tysons, VA
Clearance: Secret (must be eligible for TS/SCI upgrade)
As an AV Design Engineer, you will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of complex audio-visual, data center, and virtual infrastructure technologies. This role bridges technical system design with executive-level communication, requiring expertise in creating detailed drawing packages, cost estimates, and hardware/software frameworks for large-scale, resilient systems.
Key Responsibilities
- System Architecture & Design: Formulate high-level architectural solutions and design complex videoconferencing and integrated AV technologies (including video walls, matrix systems, audio reinforcement, streaming technologies, and control systems like Crestron, AMX, and Extron).
- Documentation & CAD: Create comprehensive Drawing Packages and Bills of Materials (BOM) using AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Sales Engineering & Site Surveys: Conduct customer site surveys, collect technical requirements, develop project scopes, and provide project cost estimates and work breakdown structures.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Develop test plans, perform functional acceptance tests for AV control systems, and troubleshoot IP and ISDN network/telecommunications systems.
- Training & Leadership: Conduct on-site user and administrative training, technically coach junior colleagues, and communicate directly with executive leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, accompanied by 5 years of progressive experience in hardware/software solution development.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong proficiency in videoconferencing standards and AV/IT/telecommunications equipment.
- Experience reading/interpreting blueprints, electrical plans, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
- Core Skills: Strong problem-solving, time management, organizational, and consultative skills with the ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Communication: Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills tailored for executive leadership.
- Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
