Catania Oils is a family owned and operated business that has been around for over 100 years and through four generations. We are a leading packager and processor of edible oils located in Ayer, MA. Our Mission is to provide innovative quality products to customers in an efficient, economic, and environmentally responsible manner.
The Quality Lab Technician is a key member of the QA team. The candidate is responsible for upholding quality standards in all of Catania's products, as well as upholding Catania's core values.
Responsibilities
- Work independently and collaboratively with integrity in the Quality department and accurately collect, report and release data in the LIMS system.
- Actively promotes safety rules and awareness.
- Always demonstrate safety practices including the appropriate use of protective equipment.
- Maintains and improves product quality by investigating issues and collaborating with other members of the Operation and Quality teams.
- Reinforces the Quality/food safety program by working with production personnel to support ingredient control, proper storage practices, meeting customer specifications.
- Manage primary testing for incoming railcar testing
- Incoming received packaging testing
- Maintain and prepare buffers and additives
- Maintain cleanliness in the laboratory
- Perform daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly and quarterly calibrations on lab equipment
- Maintain hazardous waste in laboratory
- Maintain proper laboratory supply inventories.
- Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Quality management and is a backup to Quality Bulk technician
Requirements
Experience & Education
- Associate degree in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, food science or related field of study
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a food manufacturing setting, preferably in QA
- Experience working in a GMP environment
- Strong quality mindset
- Highly organized, detailed-oriented with excellent communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Able to conduct themselves in a professional manner
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
