Travel LPN – Swing Bed / Med-Surg Nights | Enterprise, AL | $1,215 Weekly
Join a swing bed / med-surg rehab unit caring for patients needing wound care, IV therapy, and physical rehabilitation in a community hospital setting. Swing bed programs provide short-term skilled nursing and rehab services for patients transitioning from acute care to home or long-term care.
Position details
- Title: Travel LPN – Swing Bed / Medical Surgical (Nights)
- Location: Enterprise, Alabama area (community hospital swing bed unit)
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM (3x12s)
- Experience required: Minimum 1 year hospital experience; long-term care or rehab experience preferred
- Pay to traveler (CHS / HealthTrust rules, 22% GM, 7% VMS fee):
- Bill rate: $45/hr
- Candidate blended pay ≈ 72.5% of bill rate → about $32.63/hr
- Weekly (36 hrs): ≈ $1,175–$1,215 weekly depending on non-billable orientation and sick time
Unit & patient population
- Unit type: Swing bed / rehab med-surg focused on:
- Wound care and skin integrity management
- Physical therapy / rehabilitation support
- IV therapy and related skilled nursing services
- Typical patients: Post-acute, post-surgical, and medically complex patients requiring short-term skilled care prior to discharge home or to long-term care.
Requirements
- Active LPN/LVN license in state of employment (or compact, if applicable)
- BLS certification required
- At least 1 year of recent hospital experience; swing bed, rehab, or long-term care experience strongly preferred
- Permanent home address must be 50 miles from the facility
Responsibilities
- Deliver full-scope LPN care on a swing bed / med-surg rehab unit, including medication administration, IV therapy within scope, wound care support, and routine assessments.
- Support PT/rehab goals, assist with mobility, ADLs, and patient education to facilitate safe transitions home or to long-term settings.
- Monitor vital signs, document in the facility EMR, and communicate changes in patient condition to RNs and providers.
This assignment is ideal for an LPN with hospital med-surg and rehab experience who is comfortable with night shifts and enjoys helping patients bridge the gap between acute care and home.
