What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding GTM position at Catalog?
Catalog is building the commerce layer for AI - the missing infrastructure that lets agents not just search the web, but understand, reason about, and transact with products. We power the next generation of AI experiences that will reshape how people discover and buy online.
You'll be our first GTM hire - owning everything from pipeline generation to deal execution as we establish our presence with frontier AI labs, agentic startups, and retailers. This isn't a traditional sales role. You'll build our go-to-market function from scratch while simultaneously closing deals.
You'll work directly with founders in San Francisco to define our ICP, create our sales playbook, design our pricing strategy, and establish the repeatable motions that will scale with us. High autonomy, high impact, high ownership.
Pipeline Generation
- Build and execute ABM campaigns targeting retailers, agentic commerce apps, and commerce infrastructure players
- Test and iterate on messaging, channels, and outbound sequences to find what resonates
- Own conference strategy: pre-event outreach, on-site engagement, post-event conversion
Deal Execution
- Own the full sales cycle: prospect, qualify, demo, negotiate, close
- Translate complex API/data infrastructure into clear commercial value for technical buyers
- Design creative pilot structures and pricing models for emerging use cases
- Quantify customer ROI and build business cases for platform adoption
GTM Strategy
- Validate target verticals and personas through direct customer conversations
- Define our sales process, qualification criteria, and partnership frameworks
- Work with engineering to shape product direction from customer feedback
- Build the reporting infrastructure and metrics that will scale our GTM motion
You're a Fit if
- 1.5-3 years in sales, with experience closing technical/platform deals
- Proven ability to generate your own pipeline via outbound, ABM, or creative prospecting
- Comfortable with ambiguity - you've built processes from scratch and thrive in 0-to-1 environments
- Technically credible - you can sell to engineers and research teams without hand-holding
- Deeply curious about AI and the future of commerce, agents, and how people discover products
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco - this is an in-person role in North Beach
Nice to Have
- Experience at a high-growth startup (Series A-B) or developer-focused company
- Background in developer relations, partnerships, or technical pre-sales
- Familiarity with sales automation platforms (Clay, Apollo) and CRM systems
- Experience selling into research labs or emerging AI companies
How We Work
- Small team. High trust. High intensity. We bias toward in-person collaboration, debate ideas openly, decide quickly, and ship constantly.
