Position Summary
PanAm Dental Labs is seeking a highly skilled Digital Designer Technician to join our growing digital team. This role focuses on reviewing, preparing, and designing restorations using state-of-the-art intraoral scan (IOS) data, AI-driven design tools, and advanced CAD software. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and committed to delivering accurate and timely designs that support high-quality patient outcomes.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing client scans, utilizing AI-assisted workflows, and finalizing crown and bridge designs in accordance with our Model-less Digital SOPs. You’ll collaborate closely with the Savannah milling center and ensure all designs meet functional and esthetic standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze incoming IOS scans for data quality (holes, defects, incomplete capture, unclear margins) and promptly communicate issues to the internal team.
- Assess and adjust bite registrations and occlusion using AI tools to ensure accuracy.
- Accurately identify and digitally mark preparation margins.
- Equilibrate occlusion following PanAm’s IOS Model-less Crown Design SOPs.
- Upload 3Shape files to AI-based design platforms (e.g., 3Shape Automate) and manage workflow progress.
- Download and inspect AI-generated designs for proper proximal contacts, occlusion, and overall quality.
- Redesign or refine crowns and restorations manually in 3Shape or Exocad when AI designs fail or require adjustments.
- Finalize and submit completed designs to the Savannah milling center within required turnaround times.
Required:
- 2 years of experience in dental CAD design (3Shape, Exocad, or comparable software)
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, crown & bridge workflows, and occlusion principles.
- Ability to evaluate IOS scans and margin clarity with precision.
- Familiarity with AI design platforms (3Shape Automate, Evident, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and problem-solving scan/design issues.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet strict deadlines.
Preferred:
- Experience with model-less workflows and digital production SOPs.
- Previous lab experience in a high-volume production environment.
- Associate’s degree, CDT, or formal dental technology training.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Location: Position may be performed in any of our lab locations, but in-house at our Savannah lab is preferred.
- Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday. Flexibility required to meet production deadlines.
