The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing the day-to-day shipping, receiving, and inventory handling activities on the warehouse floor. This includes checking in drivers, verifying and auditing loads, monitoring transfers from adjacent facilities, receiving inventory, and accurately processing receipts. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication with warehouse leads, supervisors, and inventory analysts, and the ability to maintain accurate documentation to ensure inventory integrity and timely product movement.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for performing a wide range of shipping, receiving, and inventory control activities within the warehouse. This position ensures that all inbound and outbound shipments are processed accurately and efficiently, supporting the overall flow of materials through the facility.
Key responsibilities include checking in drivers, directing them to appropriate dock doors, and verifying shipment documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and load sheets. The role also involves auditing and verifying loads for accuracy, documenting discrepancies such as shortages or damages, and communicating findings to the appropriate personnel, including inventory analysts and warehouse supervisors.
In addition, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk receives and processes incoming inventory in accordance with company standards, ensuring that all products are accurately entered into the warehouse management system, properly labeled, and placed in the correct storage location. The position is also responsible for monitoring and recording transfers between facilities, tracking detention times, and maintaining up-to-date shipping and receiving logs.
The role requires a strong focus on accuracy, detail, and compliance with established procedures. Effective communication and coordination with warehouse leads, supervisors, and inventory staff are essential to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain inventory integrity, and support timely order fulfillment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping & Receiving Operations:
- Handle daily shipping and receiving functions for all inbound and outbound loads.
- Check in drivers and direct them to assigned dock doors.
- Ensure accurate documentation for all shipments, including bills of lading, packing slips, and load sheets.
- Monitor and document transfers from adjacent warehouses or buildings.
- Monitor and document inbound and outbound detention times.
- Keep daily shipping and Receiving tracker updated.
Load Verification & Auditing:
- Verify and audit loads for accuracy, completeness, and quality before dispatch or after receipt.
- Identify and document discrepancies such as shorts, damages, or mis-shipments.
- Write up shortages and communicate them to the Inventory Analyst.
Communication & Coordination:
- Maintain constant communication with warehouse leaders or supervisors regarding which trucks are at the dock and the status of each load.
- Coordinate with dock and inventory personnel to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Inventory Receiving & Processing:
- Receive incoming inventory into the warehouse system promptly and accurately.
- Process receipts in accordance with company standards and procedures.
- Ensure inventory is properly labeled and placed in the correct storage location.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions.
- Complete required paperwork, including shorts reports and receipt confirmations.
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and other inventory control activities as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Warehouse environment with frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and warehouse equipment noise.
- May require flexible hours, including weekends or overtime, depending on operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 years of experience in a warehouse shipping and receiving role preferred.
- Working knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control procedures.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP software is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack) as needed.

SCHEDULE
1st Shift
- Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 3 PM
- Management will communicate any overtime hours within 24 hours at minimum, in advance, and as needed.
