In summary
The Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecommunication lines. This role involves working at heights on utility poles, and aerial structures to ensure the proper functioning of fiber optic and coaxial cables and lines. The Aerial Lineman will work closely with ground crews, engineers, and project managers to complete tasks safely and efficiently while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
Here's what you will be doing.
- Install, maintain and repair aerial fiber optic and coaxial lines.
- Climb utility poles and operate bucket trucks to access overhead lines.
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
- Perform splicing, terminations, and testing of cables as needed.
- Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, including fall protection procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair damaged and faulty lines to restore service.
- Collaborate with ground crews to complete projects on time and within specifications.
- Will operate and maintain tolls, equipment, and vehicles required for aerial work.
- Ad hoc- projects, other duties assigned.
This is what we need from a great candidate.
- Previous experience as an aerial lineman in telecommunications field.
- Proficiency in climbing and working from heights using harness, ladders, and bucket trucks.
- Knowledge of fiber optic and coaxial cable installation, splicing, and repair.
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow project specifications.
- Strong understanding of industry safety regulations and procedures.
- Valid driver license (CDL – Commercial Driver license preferred)
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in varying weather conditions, and perform strenuous tasks.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends based on project or business need.
Environmental and Physical Demands:
This position will be exposed to outdoor elements to include but not limited to extreme heat and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, sleet, wind, uneven terrain, road noise and traffic. Will routinely work around heavy equipment and tools with moving mechanical parts. The position will be working at heights above ground.
