The Fabrication Welder I is responsible for adding value to our industrial, petroleum, EPG and rental power sales team’s engine related projects by welding metal components together with a variety of arc welding processes or mig welding processes to fabricate or repair products such as brackets and/or weldments used in the packaging of customer specific enhancements. Work is performed under direct supervision and has little complexity, requiring basic welding knowledge and skills.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
- Weld metal parts together using arc welding or mig welding processes according to project specific drawings.
- Perform related tasks such as oxy acetylene cutting of some parts and operating a grinder.
- Identify opportunities for improvement, promote quality, apply feedback to improve performance, and monitor own work to ensure quality.
- Maintain welding machines using preventative maintenance methods.
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards.
- Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and time management.
- Follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions, and keep commitments.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Basic welding knowledge and skills.
- Basic mechanic hand tools, in addition to, measuring tape, squares and levels.
- Ability to fabricate from a blueprint or a layout drawing.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, which may be in written, verbal, or diagram form.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one with manager or the work team.
- Basic mathematical skills, to include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to pass Worksteps evaluation.
- Ability to work long or unusual hours to meet operational goals as needed.
